Senior Marketing Manager

The Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing a broad marketing effort focused primarily on developing and supporting Guide Dogs for the Blind’s national brand, programs and services positioning, corporate partnerships, and public relations strategies.
POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop and implement marketing, image, and messaging strategies to expand GDB awareness nationally, and strengthen internal/external communities of support.
Create and/or coordinate advertising, direct mail, promotions, and other awareness-building programs designed to advance the development effort in particular (and the broader organization in general) among traditional and targeted markets
Develop website content, look and feel, coordinating with IT department to ensure an engaging, fresh, and relevant experience for those visiting the site.
Develop and maintain an active social media presence, employing strategies that better engage younger donors.
Actively participate in policy development, strategy, and setting long term market goals.
As needed, represent Guide Dogs to other organizations and the general public.
Manage budget and secure goals of the marketing and development plan.
Work closely with other departments to develop and implement fully integrated marketing plans that help achieve the development organization’s overall goals and objectives.
Manage vendor relationships with advertising agencies, and other outside professionals.
Promote, cultivate and manage the use of volunteer talent, as needed.
Undertake other duties as assigned by the President and CEO.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Requires a four year college degree with major course work in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations or a closely related field. Must have a minimum of seven years’ position-related marketing experience in either a not-for-profit or for-profit environment. Previous management responsibility for a comprehensive marketing and/or communication program is highly desirable.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to track record of success in developing strategic plans, marketing programs and successfully implementing them within an organization.
Proficient using a personal computer and software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and graphics software knowledge desirable)
Ability to develop and implement budget, marketing and communications plans
Skill in negotiating and managing contracts with third party suppliers
Successful experience developing, implementing and measuring the impact of social media and viral marketing strategies
Ability to handle multiple projects, plan, organize and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, and work effectively with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels
Demonstrate a strong record of team building and leadership around marketing plans
Demonstrate excellent analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Current knowledge of marketing principles and practices including social media
Demonstrate advanced writing skills and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Skill in market research and analysis
Ability to create and implement marketing plans
Ability to present a professional image and develop and maintain effective, cooperative, professional relationships
Ability to demonstrate business acumen and good judgment

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
A large percentage of time is spent in an office environment
Ability to travel to as needed (light travel)
Full-time, exempt position. Pay commensurate with experience.
