OVERALL SUMMARY
Responsible for developing and implementing effective marketing plans to ensure that individuals who may be qualified to receive a guide dog have the necessary awareness, information and opportunity to do so. Responsible for helping to create the best potential for partnerships with Guide Dogs for the Blind in targeted markets. Position involves research, strategy, implementation, measurement, and analysis utilizing all appropriate marketing tools. Incumbent will build a network of blindness agencies and professionals, developing collaborations to further GDB strategic objectives.
POSITION FUNCTIONS
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective marketing plans and strategies to provide a steady stream of qualified applicants in accordance with organizational needs. Update plan annually or sooner if neededand communicate plan to appropriate staff and volunteers.
- Work in conjunction with other departments (AGS, Training, CCP, Marketing, etc.) to make the best use of available resources including volunteers, puppy raisers, alumni and staff. Encourage creative program development with these sources and serve as point person for distribution of tools such as collateral materials, data collection assistance, and training. Set Outreach objectives by coordinating/developing workshops, seminars and presentations; reviewing procedures and policies; updating/revising promotional material and messaging; etc
- Insure adherence to Outreach budget. Create systems for tracking program successes to determine best return on investment and make program adjustments as necessary.
- Collaborate with agencies, blindness professionals, and consumer groups through conventions, workshops, seminars, camps, etc.to promote Guide Dogs services This involves coordinating activities, setting objectives; providing presentations, developing articles and using marketing resources.
- Serve as the primary liaison for key strategic alliances contributing to our Outreach efforts. Undertake other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum three years' relevant experience with proven skills in organizing, planning, budgeting, researching, supervising and marketing.
- Undergraduate degree, (marketing or rehabilitation preferred.
- Excellent writing and public presentation skills.
- Able to plan and execute cost-effective trips and to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Able to perform basic Word, spreadsheet, database, and voice mail tasks or use JAWS.
- Guide Dogs for the Blind, guide dog user strongly preferred.
