Trainers work with dogs in harness on the California campus.Many people are interested incoming to work for us in our Training Department. And why not? We have the best trainers and the best dogs in the world, and the work our mobility instructors do with our students is extremely rewarding. We offer several employment opportunities in our Training Department:

If you're interested in pursuing a long-term career with Guide Dogs as a licensed Guide Dog mobility instructor, we advise that you apply for the entry-level position of Canine Welfare Technician. Qualified instructor assistants may then be accepted into our three-year Guide Dog mobility apprenticeship program to gain rigorous hands-on experience in preparation for the oral, written, and practical tests required by the California State Guide Dog Board for licensing as a Guide Dog mobility instructor. (Apprentices at our Oregon campus are also required to obtain the California State Guide Dog Instructor License to maintain consistency in our training program.)
