Brad Hibbard is originally from Ohio and began his career with dog training while in the Air Force. He was accepted into the Patrol Dog Handling course at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and soon after became one of the first participants in the "Green Dog Team" ("green" signifying untrained dog) program. The team trained dogs to be patrol dogs, as well as bomb and drug detection dogs. Brad eventually became a supervisor with the "Green Dog Team," and spent the duration of his enlistment in that position.
After his military service, Brad continued training dogs. He went to work for Pilot Dogs in Columbus, Ohio in 1985. In April of 1988, he joined the staff at Guide Dogs for the Blind at our California campus and earned his license in November of 1989. Six years later, Brad moved to Oregon to help establish the training program for our then-new campus in Oregon. Brad has held the positions of Licensed Instructor, Retrain Instructor, Class Supervisor and Oregon Apprentice Program Liaison (assisting apprentices in the licensure process). In January of 2001 he became the Director of Training for our Oregon campus. In March of 2013 he became the Director of Training Operations.
