Terry Barrett began his career working with dogs while in the military. He trained for dog work at Lackland Airforce base in Texas and completed assignments in Vietnam and Thailand during two years in Southeast Asia.
In 1976, following his military service, Terry joined Guide Dogs for the Blind as an apprentice instructor. Terry was an instructor for fourteen years and has also held the roles of Class Supervisor, Assistant Director of Training, Director of Training, and his current role of Director of Training Operations which oversees the Training Departments on each campus as well as the Admissions and Graduate Services Department. Terry has been a featured speaker for the International Guide Dog Federation (an organization that represents guide dog schools throughout the world) and is currently an assessor for the International Guide Dog Federation as well.
