Establishing A Charitable Gift Annuity

Man walks briskly with his black Lab Guide DogA charitable gift annuity can be established with a gift of $5,000 or more to Guide Dogs For the Blind. In exchange for your gift, Guide Dogs will pay you, and a second beneficiary, if you wish, income for life. Both income beneficiaries must be at least 50 years of age, unless payments are deferred in which case the minimum age is 55. When the life beneficiary(s) pass away, the remaining funds in the charitable gift annuity are distributed to Guide Dogs For the Blind.

Gift annuities can be established using cash or appreciated securities held for longer than one year. When cash is used, more of your income is tax free.

The income you receive is determined by your age. For rates at specific ages please fill out the Request For Personal Illustration form or call us at 1800-295-4050. With a deferred gift annuity, because the payments do not begin until a specified future date that you choose, you receive higher life income payments than those for immediate gift annuities and a higher immediate income tax deduction. Deferred gift annuities are often used by individuals who do not need the income now but who wish to supplement their income upon retirement.
