What are the requirements for becoming a campus volunteer?
- California campus: Volunteers must meet a minimum age requirement of 16 and commit to 88 hours and one year of service.
- Oregon campus: Volunteers must meet a minimum age requirement of 16 and commit to a minimum of three months of service.
How do you apply to become a campus volunteer?
If you meet the requirements above, you are cordially invited to attend a Volunteer Orientation and discover the numerous avenues open to your individual talents. The orientation requires no obligation to volunteer. If you decide you'd like to pursue volunteering after attending the orientation, you will then have the opportunity to fill out a volunteer application and schedule an interview with a member of our Volunteer Department staff. If it is determined that volunteering at Guide Dogs is a match of your skills and interests to our organization's needs, we will coordinate with you an appropriate volunteer job and schedule.
What do volunteer orientations entail? When are they?
The informational group orientations begin at 9am and include:
- A brief overview of our program
- A screening of the video "Soul Mates"
- A discussion of current volunteer opportunities
- A campus tour
