Puppy raiser holds her yellow lab puppyAre you looking for ways to strengthen your experience base so you can improve your chances of getting into college, getting scholarships or employment? Are you interested in a future career in nonprofits, animal management, business or social causes? Consider a summer internship with Guide Dogs for the Blind!

Thank you for your interest in applying for a Summer Internship at Guide Dogs for the Blind. On this page you will find the application as well as job descriptions of the available internships and instructions for printed letters of recommendation. Please note: the application can be submitted electronically, but the letters of recommendation must be returned by mail to GDB in hard copy form.

All applications and letters of recommendation are due Friday, April 1 by midnight. Late applications or letters of recommendation will not be considered.

Internships will be offered in a variety of departments. Applicants must be high schoolers (minimum age 16 years old) through college seniors, and must be current, active Puppy Raising volunteers for Guide Dogs for the Blind in good standing. It is our desire to provide as many different people with internship opportunities as possible; therefore those who have had GDB internships in previous years are ineligible for consideration (those who have applied before but have not been selected, however, are welcome to apply again). In addition, GDB is unable to offer housing assistance; applicants will be required to secure their own housing as part of the application process. Additionally, applicants need to plan for their puppy’s care if they are offered an internship, as we are not able to board puppies during an intern’s session.

Please feel free to contact Campus Volunteer Manager Jennifer Bernstein directly with any questions or concerns at jbernstein@guidedogs.com or 415-492-4106.

Best of luck, and hope to see you this summer! Jennifer
