"Getting a Guide Dog was the best decision I've ever made." We hear this time and time again at Guide Dogs for the Blind. In fact, 98 percent of our graduates say they would definitely refer others to our program and are proud to be associated with our school.
Beginning with the first call you make to our school and ending with the support you get for the retirement of your Guide Dog, we're there to meet your needs and communicate with you in the medium of your choice.
Once you graduate from our program, we provide unparalleled follow-up services, including:
- Veterinary reimbursement to help defray the costs of medical expenses for your guide, when financial assistance is needed. We are committed to the health and safety of your canine partner.
- Ongoing staff support. Staff is always available for telephone assistance, and personal emergent visits are provided whenever necessary. Staff field managers, living in areas where there are large concentrations of our alumni, provide ongoing, consistent support as well.
Our Alumni Association provides you a way to stay involved in GDB activities wherever you may live. We host regional Alumni and Associates Luncheons and other events to help you stay connected with us, and as a way for you to help connect us with others.
In addition to our host of student/alumni services, our breeding, kennel, puppy raising and dog training programs are world renowned. You can take comfort in knowing that your dog is the result of much love, attention and devotion by an entire community of people dedicated to its success.
The connection with a Guide Dog goes much deeper than what most of us have ever experienced, even with another human being, because the relationship requires not just companionship but absolute trust and independence. We hope that you will join the ranks of our alumni and discover the power of a Guide Dog partnership for yourself.
