This is a running list of changes and updates made to the contents of the Guidebook.
Note that page formatting, layout, images, and graphics may be updated without fundamental changes to the Guidebook content. Those cosmetic changes will not be noted in this log.
- May 1, 2024: Launch of the Guidebook. All contents are current.
- June 5, 2024: Travel Policy: updated policy change based on CDC guidelines that puppies may only travel within the US.
- June 5, 2024: Heartgard, Nexgard, and Flea Prevention:
- Added examples and clarification to the schedule for the first green dose of Heartgard from the puppy packet.
- Added clarification that GDB uses Nexgard only; not Nexgard Plus
- June 5, 2024: Equipment and Supplies:
- Under "Toys" added link to snuffle ball
- Under "Household Supplies" added link to potty pads
- Note: these two items were also added to the Amazon Wishlist
- June 5, 2024: Nutrition and Water: added a bullet point at the end of the "How to Feed" section stating that puppies should not be fed from your plate or have food tossed to them while eating.
- June 5, 2024: Building Love for the Crate: added a "Did You Know" callout at the end of the page regarding crate sizes.
- June 6, 2024: Public Access: the "Puppy's Public Uniform" section was updated.
- June 11, 2024: Dog Placements with Nonprofit Organizations: updated list of organizations working with GDB.
- June 18, 2024: Puppy Raising Club Fundraising: in the "Guidelines" section, added examples of appropriate and inappropriate use of club funds
- July 2, 2024: Types of Food Rewards: Added a "Did You Know" note about high value and lick-able foods.
- July 2, 2024: Safe & Sound: A Guide to Puppy Proofing Your Home: added an ASPCA resource for toxic and non-toxic plants.
- July 2, 2024: Exercise, Play, and Toys and Nutrition and Water: added links to free TerraCycle recycling programs for Benebones and Royal Canin and Eukanuba dog food bags.
- July 3, 2024: Puppy Raising Club Fundraising: in the "Guidelines" section, updated to include that original receipts for expenses must be submitted within 90 days.
- September 19, 2024: Puppy Raising Marketing Materials: in the "Marketing and Social Media" section, a page was added where different marketing/recruitment materials will be made available. The first things added are digital wallpaper files that can be downloaded and displayed on a cell phone that include a QR code for how to learn more about GDB puppy raising.
- October 4, 2024: on the Social Media Guidelines and Best Practices page, the GDB Puppy Club Facebook profile icon has been added as a downloadable file.
