Canine Research and Development
The Canine Research and Development Team at Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB) is invested in advancing the health, behavior, and overall welfare of our dogs. This is accomplished by conducting and participating in primary research projects, and synthesizing scientific literature to nurture successful, long-lasting partnerships between our dogs and clients. Our research team is actively involved in both internal and external canine-related research initiatives that:
- Advance canine health, behavior, and overall welfare of GDB dogs
- Support GDB’s organizational needs and contribute to data-informed decision-making
- Demonstrate leadership in the guide dog industry and the scientific field of canine science
